The brief
Stanley is a painter with a colourful past; he has lived and worked in Venice and other countries. He’s now in a London apartment with very white walls. His problem was his bright paintings, full of architectural charm, had somehow lost their impact.

Colour Advice
He needed a lot of persuasion to use the vibrant shades I wanted to use. ‘I don’t want the rooms to seem small and dark’, he said. I assured him that carrying one strong sweep of colour, from entrance hall and flowing through the living space, would enhance his display areas and reveal the contrast in his pictures.
Design and Decoration
As a keen colourist himself, Stanley was understandably cautious. But when he saw the effect a single strong colour can have he asked me to do his bedroom and kitchen as well.
