The brief
Carol was in a fix; she’d collected art over thirty years, but most of it was stacked against walls in various rooms. It wasn’t hung because she didn’t know how best to hang everything. And some of the limited editions, original oils and watercolours needed reframing. She asked me to lay out her pictures over the white painted rooms and stairways of her Edwardian home.

Colour Advice
I said, ‘Pictures need drama; hanging them on white walls is too bright and won't show them off.
When I suggested strong colours Carol was uneasy. So I made a bargain; ‘If you don’t like the colours I’ll take it back to white.’

Unique Picture Walls
Framing is best done by professionals, and Carol agreed. While that was being done I got down to decorating. I was relieved when Carol expressed delight at my colour choices. And when the newly framed art was carefully grouped and laid out on the deep toned coloured walls she was ecstatic; ‘The pictures look fresh as paint!’ I ended up doing all the rooms in her house.
